Part II Reading
1. Read for understanding.
(Do you know how to ask the way and direct the way in English?
You may find the answer by reading the following passages.)
Asking and directing the way is one of the basic
living skills. NOTES
If you want to ask the way correctly, you’d
better start the conversation with greetings and polite
expressions.
For example,
Good afternoon! Could you please tell me the
way to the iron factory?
Excuse me, do you know how to get to the
railway station?
Would you show me the way to the Capital
Library?
When you direct the way, make sure to use
location words, such as between, next to, across,
opposite, etc.
