(Liu Ming and Pan Le are classmates. Liu works as a
volunteer at a nursing home, and Pan in a local community.) NOTES

Pan: Good morning, Liu! I hear that you are working

as a volunteer.
Liu: Yes. I am working for the old people in a nursing

home.
Pan: Oh, what do you do there?

Liu: I often read books, tell stories, and play chess with

them.
Pan: It sounds like something new

for us.
Liu: Yes. Some old people are lonely,

and they need help. In fact, they

have rich life experiences. I’ve
learned a lot through talking

with them. By the way, what

about you?
Pan: I volunteer to teach some kids to learn

English in our community.

Liu: Wonderful! It suits you because you are
good at English and you like kids.
