Nowadays, a great many animals are dying out or losing
their living places, and have low birth-rates. Fortunately,
NOTES
the Giant Panda, known as a national treasure of China,

has been protected. With the help
of the Chinese government and

the World Wide Fund for Nature

(WWF, 世界自然基金会), 67 panda
reserves (保护区) have been built

in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu
provinces in China.

Every year, volunteers from all over the world come

to the panda reserves to help the pandas. They help clean
the place where pandas live, wash bamboos, and feed the

pandas. Some volunteers work as tourist guides or as hosts
to introduce some knowledge about pandas to the tourists.

It’s interesting and

meaningful to be
a volunteer at the

panda reserve.
