(Jenny and Danny are tourists from Africa. Li Ming is
their guide. Today, they have arrived in Lanzhou and are

visiting the Yellow River.)
Li Ming: All right. Let’s go along this street
and turn left at the traffic lights.
This road will lead us to the Yellow
River, which is 5,400 kilometres long.
Danny: Wow, the Yellow River is so
wide, similar to our Nile River!
Jenny: Yes, the Nile River gave birth to
the civilisation of the Egyptians.
Li Ming: It’s just like China’s Yellow River. My teacher
told me that the Yellow River is the symbol of
the spirit of Chinese people.
Jenny: It really looks yellow!
Li Ming: That’s because there is lots of sand and mud in
the river.
Danny: Look at the bridge!
Li Ming: That is Lanzhou Zhongshan Bridge, the first
bridge over the Yellow River.
Danny: Look! There is a statue. It is really beautiful!
Li Ming: You’re quite right. That’s the Mother River
Statue.
Danny: Can we take a picture here?
Li Ming: Sure!
